The President and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Prof. Justin Green, has appealed to Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to attend the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) scheduled to hold in Abuja.

Green made the appeal in Abuja at a reception dinner organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in his honour.

The reception was hosted by the Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo.

Green is in Nigeria ahead of the World Public Relations Forum and the 37th African Public Relations Association Conference, scheduled to take place from November 15 to 21, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

The Global Alliance president said Davido’s ability to connect with young people across different countries, religions and backgrounds could make his participation a valuable addition to the global public relations gathering.

He said the forum, scheduled for November 15 to 22, would bring together communication and public relations professionals as well as representatives of major international organisations.

“Wouldn’t it be such a celebration if he was able to participate? Because he connects with the youth of every colour, of every religion, of every country.

“And he is a huge ambassador for that connection to the public. And in a time of responsible communication, who better that we could ask to turn up than Davido?

“So, if you’re watching, David, please come to Abuja on the 15th of November,” Green said.

He also invited other organisations and industries, both domestic and international, to participate in the forum, saying the Global Alliance was open to their support and involvement.

Green said the forum would provide an opportunity to showcase Nigeria to the international community, adding that the event would attract representatives from organisations including the World Bank, United Nations, African Union, European Commission, Interpol and customs.

He said Nigeria secured the right to host the forum after competing against countries from across the world.

“Nigeria didn’t receive it. It competed among countries from all over the globe. It won it on its own merits,” he said.

According to him, the forum would not only be a celebration of public relations but also an economic, cultural and international gathering.

He said the Global Alliance, which represents over 100 countries worldwide, expected the eyes of the world to be on Nigeria during the event.

Earlier, President and Chairman of Council of NIPR, Dr Ike Neliaku, said the institute was committed to making the forum the biggest, brightest and boldest World Public Relations Forum ever held anywhere on the surface of the earth.

Neliaku commended Green for his contributions to strengthening African representation within the Global Alliance, noting that the organisation now has regional councils across different parts of the world, including Africa.

He said the development had helped create greater opportunities for African public relations practitioners and contributed to Nigeria’s successful bid to host the global forum.

Neliaku also said Nigeria had the capacity to deliver a successful international event, adding that the country would use the opportunity to demonstrate its resilience and showcase its strengths to the world.

Okonkwo said he cannot contemplate relocating permanently from Nigeria, despite the growing trend of Nigerians emigrating abroad in search of better economic and career opportunities.

He said he could hardly stay outside Nigeria for more than a week, insisting that the country was not as bad as it was often portrayed internationally.
