The Vice Chancellor, Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, Prof. Clement Kolawole, has emphasised the need for students to develop good values to enhance their preparedness for higher education.

Kolawole stated this at an event, themed: “Campus flaws 2024,” organised in conjunction with the Etiquette Poise and Protocol Resource (EPRA), a private consulting firm, to sensitise students on how to conduct themselves in higher institutions.

The event, attended by over 500 senior secondary school students and teachers from private schools across Lagos, featured career talk, drama, games and facility tour, among others.

Kolawole said the collaboration is to equip students with necessary skills and character to excel in the pursuit of their academic and career aspirations.

He added that the event was an opportunity for the students to enhance their preparedness for university education by instilling in themselves essential values and insights for informed decision making.

The vice chancellor said the university recognises the significance of selecting the right institution and it’s ready to offer students the finest resources to achieve their aspirations.

He noted that the overall objective of the institution is not about profiteering, but to produce well-rounded and fit-for-purpose graduates across disciplines, and also conduct societal-oriented research work and community services.

Kolawole said that was why the university is exposing its students to things that could add value to their lives, while also cautioning them against vices such as cultism, examination malpractice and hooliganism.

Chairman, EPRA, Olatunji Oladimeji, said the event was to promote mentorship, guide students in their career path and prepare them for a journey into the future.

He said due to lack of information and unpreparedness, undergraduates end up with problems as girls get pregnant, while boys join secret cults and cultivate other bad habits.
