We love new beginnings because subconsciously, we view them as another opportunity for a new start.

So, we do new year resolutions, fresh quarter goals, new week plans and all of that. All done in an attempt to rejig our lives.

But over time you’ll come to realise, if you haven’t, that those ‘changes’ don’t last. With the start of a new season comes the energy boost to set new goals but this is as far as that external energy can push you. If you intend to go further, you have to tap into another energy source. The one from within.

You can only effectively change your life from the inside out. This is because we are only able to change our lives when we change our minds.

We are in the second quarter (Q2) of the year and true to the norm, you must have made out a list of goals to achieve. I assume that you’ve had that talk with yourself where you looked through the experiences of the previous months and thought of ways to do better. I believe you have made grand plans but knowing what you know now, how do you position your mind to support your ambitions?

How do you position your thoughts for excellence? How do you achieve lasting changes? This calls for a renewal of your mind for if you don’t believe it, you’d never be pushed to action and if you don’t act, the ink with which you wrote down those goals would have been wasted.

To help you on this progressive journey, here are three ways you can change your mind:
By the words you read: Consciously look over the words you’ve read in the past years; the books and the blog articles. Did they stimulate your mind for development? Choose to feast on articles that challenge you to be and do more.

By the words you listen to: You listen to moody music that gives you that sad depressing feeling and you expect to stand up and take over the world the next minute? Choose the songs that make your spirit come alive; choose songs whose lyrics encourage the creator in you. Also, carefully select the webinars and day-to-day conversations you take part in.
By the words in videos, you watch: Yes, those movies you love to watch, how have they helped you so far? The internet has made the world a smaller village; search out contents that leave you with one or two lessons.

All that your mind dwells on originates as words. With this understanding, go back to your list of goals and try to visualise what your life would look like when they are achieved.
It takes time to get the right words to stick, so keep the words ever before you! Write them on small Post-it notes, set them as reminders on your phone, make them into audio recordings and set them to play at specific times. This is how you make it real. If you can visualise it, you can be it.

It was George Bernard Shaw who said, “Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” The Nobel prize winner didn’t waste words there. As a man thinks in his heart…
It can be a new season but there will be no new you unless you act with intentionality.
I believe you’ll keep getting better because I trust that you’re wise to take action.
If this helped you in any way, share this article with your circle.
