This makes it the quickest title to reach such heights in Nigeria’s cinematic history.

Taking to Instagram today, December 23, 2024, the local distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, wrote, “Everybody Loves Jenifa smashes records with ₦511M at the box office, becoming 2024’s highest-grossing Nollywood title and the fastest to hit ₦500M in just 12 days.”

According to data from the Nigerian box office, the film drew massive crowds with over 71,700 tickets sold during its first week alone. By its opening weekend, it had already amassed over N72 million, setting the tone for an extraordinary run.

The movie’s unprecedented success reflects Funke Akindele’s undeniable star power and storytelling prowess. Known for her box-office dominance, Akindele previously made waves with Omo Ghetto: The Saga, which grossed over N1.5 billion.

In Everybody Loves Jenifa, Akindele reprises her beloved role as Jenifa, delivering a mix of humour, drama, and suspense that continues to captivate audiences.

The film follows Jenifa as she faces challenges to her popularity, navigates a clash with a new neighbour, Lobster, and tackles unexpected twists during a trip to Ghana involving a drug baron.

Co-directed by Akindele and Tunde Olaoye, with a script penned by Akindele, Akinlabi Ishola, and Collins Okoh, the movie also features stellar performances from Stan Nze and Omowunmi Dada.

The film’s success extends beyond Nigeria, with Nile Media securing its international distribution to 30 countries across six continents.
