The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has concluded joint venture arrangements aimed at providing an enabling environment for the Zuma International Film Festival, which will promote the country’s rich cultural and creative economy in Abuja.

The Managing Director, Dr Ali Nuhu, in a press statement announcing the 2024 festival on Tuesday in Abuja, said it will mark a significant milestone in the journey toward enhancing the vibrant film industry, Nollywood, and digital technologies in filmmaking.

Nuhu also hinted that the film festival is scheduled for December 1-5, adding that Nigerian cinema is more than just entertainment; it reflects our shared humanity, celebrates cultural heritage, and catalyses social change, as well as possesses the power to challenge stereotypes across borders.

According to the Managing Director, this year’s prestigious annual lecture will be delivered by the Vice President, Kassim Shettima, with a theme: “Digital Renaissance: Embracing the Future”, stressing that it will provide solutions across Africa and revolutionise the film industry in Nigeria.

Earlier, Festival Director, Halima Oyelade, explained that the event will showcase the best filmmakers in Africa and on the global stage, noting that it has grown over the years into one of the leading platforms for industry stakeholders and film enthusiasts.

Oyelade also noted that the Zuma International Film Festival will feature workshops, masterclasses, panel discussions, film screenings, and networking opportunities. She added that participants will receive mentorship, hands-on training, and practical knowledge from industry experts.
