Every year, the National Avocado Day is celebrated on July 31st. It is a day to celebrate the many delicious and nutritious benefits of this beloved superfruit. Avocados are full of healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, making them a nutritional powerhouse. They contain magnesium, fiber, potassium, vitamins C, E, and K.

Furthermore, a study’s findings show that a diet rich in avocados can improve heart disease risk and prevent the onset of heart diseases.

To celebrate this day, here are five dishes you should try:

1. Avocado toast and sandwiches

Avocados have become a staple breakfast item, often served mashed on toasted bread. Their creamy texture and subtle flavour pair perfectly with a variety of toppings such as salt and pepper sprinkles, cherry tomatoes, olive oil drizzle, and feta.

Additionally, avocados also make a great substitute for mayo or butter in sandwiches. Adding even more nutrition to them.

2. Avocado salads

No avocado celebration would be complete without the classic dip – guacamole. Mashed avocados combined with lime juice, diced onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and spices make for a flavourful and crowd-pleasing appetiser or side dish. Guacamole, Mexico’s most famous dip, is a spread for tacos, or burgers.

4. Avocado salsa

For a twist on the traditional salsa dish, try blending avocado into the mix. The creamy avocados pair well with diced tomatoes, onions, chilies, sweet corn, and cilantro. Additionally, guacamole can be mixed with avocado salsas. Serve with tortilla chips for dipping.
