Spotlight Is On 2021 Best Of Nollywood Awards Stars
BS the reason of their winning the 2021 Best of Nollywood Awards (BON Awards) Stan Nze, Samuel Oniyitan, Kehinde Bankole, Bolaji Ogunmola, Buchi Franklin and others have been admitted into the unofficial club of Nollywood’s leading actors. Moviedom points the spotlight on the award winning actors and salutes all the other filmmakers who won awards at the glam award ceremony, which held in Lokoja, Kogi State and was hosted by the State government.
Stan Nze (Rattle Snake)
A multi-talented actor, Stan Nze was voted Best Actor in a leading role (English) at the BON awards. Best known for his role as Ohakanu in the television soap Tinsel, it was his role in the wave making movie RattleSnake by Play Network Limited that earned the actor and model the best actor crest.
Born in Lagos and christened Stanley Ebuka Nzediegwu, the actor shot into limelight after he appeared in the 2009 Soap Opera Private Sector. Stan, who is married to Blessing Obasi, an actress, rode on the back of the success of that appearance to star in several Nollywood movies including a prominent appearance in the 2011 musical thriller Hoodrush starring OC Ukeje, Bimbo Akintola and Gabriel Afolayan. Blackberry Babes, Quarantine Zone, About to Wed, Dear Mother, Heavy Beauty, Anita and Within The Shadow are the other movies in the creative pouch of the Computer Science graduate of Nnamdi Azikwe University, Akwa, Anambra State.
Recipient of the Most Promising Actor in Nigeria award at the City People Entertainment Awards and the Best TV Actor at the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards, the Reloaded star has also produced movies such as; Anita, Colorless, Within the Shadow, Mute, and Split. With this recognition by BON, Stan has been admitted into the unofficial club of Nollywood leading men in acting.
Samuel Oniyitan (Abeke)
Actor, producer, model and professionally trained marketer, dapper Samuel Oniyitan was declared the winner of the category of the Best Actor in a Leading role of the BON award 2021. A Chartered Marketer and Associate member of Nigerian Institute of Management and the Group Managing Director of Green World Entertainment, a production company with a vision to produce outstanding movies, it was Oniyitan role in the Yoruba movie of epic proportion Abeke, which he produced that earned him the best actor crest.
Shot on location in Abeokuta and set in the early 70’s, Abeke revolves around a love triangle. A filmmaker with a felt passion for acting and entertainment generally, Oniyitan joined the movie industry about five years ago and within such a short space he has featured in more than fifteen movie projects, including Impulse which was directed by the talented Rotimi Raji, The Snatch, Adura by Ajani, Ase; My PA, and Desert, among others.
Certified consumer insight personnel who consults for local and international companies, Oniyitan has just a role model in Nollywood and his role model is the iconic Richard Mofe Damijo aka RMD.
“I watched the movies he acted in and I dare say I learnt a lot from that exercise. It would be an honour to act with him in a movie,’’ Oniyitan said in an earlier interview. this recognition by BON, Oniyitan has been admitted into the unofficial club of Nollywood top actors.
Bolaji Ogunmola (Butterflies)
Curvy, dark-skinned and an amazing acting talent, Bolaji Ogunmola was declared winner of the Best actress in a leading role (English) category of the BON awards. A regular feature on some of Iroko TV sponsored productions, Bolaji best known for her roles in movies such as Levi, Sobi’s Mystic, Out of Luck and Sylvia earned the award for her role in the emotive narrative Butterflies. Born in the early 90’s, Bolaji had her early education in Ebute Metta, Lagos and in Ibadan, Oyo State and later graduated from the National Open University of Nigeria, Victoria Island, with a degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship.
A product of the Emem Isong led Royal Arts Academy, Bolaji revealed in an earlier interview that her road to acting began in the church after she played the role of ‘Esther’ in a church drama production.
“That was how I discovered acting and my interest piqued,” Bolaji enthused. With this BON mention, Bolaji star of What Couples Do, Wife, Packaged, Rumour Has It, Sobi’s Mystic, Tough Love, Out of Luck, Penance, The CEO and I and April 4th has been admitted into the unofficial club of Nollywood leading ladies.
Kehinde Bankole (Abeke)
Notable actress Kehinde Bankole got the crest for Best actress in a leading role (Yoruba). The award winning actress, model, singer and television host and entertainer was voted best actress for her role in Abeke. A 2003 top ten finalist of the Miss Commonwealth Nigeria pageant, Kehinde was chosen along with Sylvia Udeogu and Olaide Olaogun to become the new face of Lux in 2007, after their amazing roles in the Super Story drama Everything It Takes.
A recipient of the Revelation of the year award at the 2009 Best of Nollywood Awards, Kehinde career swivel chair turned full circle when she won the highly coveted Best Actress of the Year Award At the 2015 African Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) for her role in Tunde Afolayan’s October 1 movie. She was also nominated for TV Actress of the Year at the 2014 ELOY Awards. Star of two of Wale Adenuga productions—Papa Ajasco and This Life, Kehinde has starred in a number of Nollywood movies such as Two Brides and a Baby, The Meeting, Awakening, October 1 and many others.
An accomplished show host, Kehinde presently hosts the daytime talk shows including Soul Sisters and African Kitchen. The pretty actress has with this BON mention confirmed a place on the list of the unofficial club of Nollywood leading ladies.
Buchi Franklin (Rattle Snake)
Actor, composer and writer Onyebuchi Ojieh or Buchi for short was declared Best actor in a supporting role (English). The Delta State born entertainer earned the crest for his believable performance in the remake of Amaka Igwe’s RattleSnake produced by Play Network.
A law graduate of the Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Edo State, Buchi began his entertainment career as a comedian in 2008. He got his first role on the silverscreen in 2013 and he has since then been involved in a number of productions where he played lead and supporting roles. He played a prominent role in the TV series, AY’s CRIB, where he played KC and in the popular Tinsel as “Coach’. He has starred in movies such as I Said I Do, Bambitious, Written in the Stars, Being Mrs. Elliot, Breaking Ranks, Relationshits, From Dark, Lunch Time Heroes and a Sitcom called Living Arrangement. The entertainer has with this mention announced his arrival as an actor to reckon with.
