Many of us resolve to workout more and get fit every time a new year rolls around. It’s just one of those feel-good, inspiring moments that we can’t help but get caught up in. Sadly, as the weeks roll on by, we realize our enthusiasm towards workouts gets less and less. For some people, the gym and organized sports just gets boring after some time. For others, we just get too busy with a whole lot of other stuff, and we can’t possibly imagine how we can carve out any time from our day-to-day lives to workout.

Maybe the problem is we’re looking at workouts as something that requires a lot of time specifically alocated to it. While this is a little bit true, it doesn’t always have to be the case. If you’re really serious about wrking out and getting fit, there is always a way to do it withut necessarily detracting from your day to day life.

5 Ways Workouts Fit Into Your Daily Life

Catch Up With People on the Move

You know all those people you owe phone calls? You can kill two birds with one stone by calling them up and taking a walk. It doesn’t even have to be people you owe phone calls. If someone calls you and it’s one of those situations where you know it’s going to be a long call, take a walk while you chat instead of sitting down or standing in one particular spot the entire time.

Personally Deliver Messages

Technology has made us all so very lazy – we know this. It’s a lot easier to just text someone when we want something than to get up and get it ourselves. If you’re serious about incorporating workouts into your day, you’re going to have to break the cycle. Instead of emailing a coworker to ask or tell him something, walk over to the person and personally deliver the message. If someone is in the same environment as you, avoid screaming out their name when you’re looking for them and take the time to get up and physically seek them out.  Not only will this serve as a little cardio, it’s a quicker way of getting a response.

Exercise While Watching TV

Next time you find yourself sprawled out on the couch or floor watching a movie, take the opportunity to workout. You can do simple yoga stretches or crunches. If you want something a little tougher, try doing planks or pushups. Essentially, just move your body in ways that make your heart pump.

Find Ways To Stand More

Sitting all day is actually really bad for one’s health. If you work a 9 – 5 job, this affects you the most. Instead of relegating yourself to your dek all day, find opportunities to just stand for a few minutes every hour. It takes your body more effort to stand than to sit, so thi counts as a workout as well. Have standing or walking meetings when you can as well.

Deviate From Your Routines

When something becmes  routine, it no longer puts any strain on your body to do it. A simple way to get workouts out of your daily life is to shake your routine up a little bit. If you take public transport to work, get off one stop before your usual one and walk the rest of the way. If you drive, park a little further away than you would when you’re going soewhere and walk to the entrance. As much as you can, avoid elevators and escalators and take the stairs instead. If you walk a particular route to somewhere you go often, find a longer route to take.
