No fewer than nineteen persons are feared dead as suspected cult groups clashed in Aluu, Ikwerre and Obite in Etche Local Government Areas of Rivers State.

The Guardian gathered that ‎armed Greenlanders cult members stormed Aluu on a reprisal mission targeted against rival Icelanders and killed fifteen persons, including a nursing mother.

The Greenlanders were said to have invaded a supermarket, where people usually go to buy items and opened fire and killed over six people, while some people narrowly escaped with gun wounds. From there, they went around town in search of Icelanders members, killing some in the process.

The caretaker chairman of Ikwerre LGA, Mr. Samuel Wanosike, explained that the government has restored normalcy in the area.

Wanosike disclosed that ‎the army raided some criminal hideouts in the area and rescued a kidnap victim, who is the paramount ruler in Aluu, Chief Kenneth Wobunwo.

He added that some suspects had been arrested by security operatives.

Similarly, about four persons were also killed in Obite, Etche during a cult clash.
