Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The party reached the agreement at its 195th National Working Committee (NWC) meeting and National Strategic Retreat in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Saturday.

The three-day retreat, themed “Strengthening Party Organisation, Unity and Electoral Readiness Towards 2027,” ran from Thursday, September 24, to Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, announced the resolution while reading a comunique at the meeting.

“We get a clean bill of health with the APC as a party. I trust strongly that the party is strong, the party is healthy, the party is prepared, and the party is oiled for the 2027 General Elections,” Yilwatda told journalists and party delegates.

“We passed a vote of confidence in our presidential candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, and all the other candidates of our party that were elected in the primary elections for the 2027 general election,” Yilwatda stated.

He said the NWC has resolved to deepen peacebuilding mechanisms to address internal squabbles and appease aggrieved party members.

“We resolved that we must continue to make reconciliation where we need to make reconciliation at all levels,” the party chief stressed. “The effort to constitute reconciliation committees at the state, the local government, and also at the ward level [will be intensified]. We encourage the state chapters to constitute reconciliation committees where it is not done,” he said.

Yilwatda said the National Working Committee also resolved to lead the campaign from the front and all the engagement of the party to ensure total victory for all candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
