Expresses fear over unresolve imbalance in Bayelsa APC

APC Deputy Governorship Candidate in the 2023 general elections in Bayelsa State, Great Joshua MacIver, has declared his unwavering commitment to the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, describing the project as “non-negotiable.”

In a statement titled “Bayelsa Congresses: Going Forward, A Call to Look Inwards,” made available to journalists in Yenagoa, MacIver urged leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to reflect on internal challenges that could undermine the party’s chances in future elections.

He warned that certain factors, including perceived imbalance in party cohesion, could weaken the APC if not urgently addressed. MacIver specifically pointed to what he described as a lack of inclusiveness among political blocs within the party.

According to him, prior to the involvement of Douye Diri in the APC, the party was largely made up of two blocs with an approximate ratio of 95 per cent to 5 per cent. He alleged that following recent developments, only the smaller bloc appears to be actively engaged in party affairs, leaving the larger group sidelined.

“This situation has the potential to breed anger and dissatisfaction within the party,” he said, warning that it could lead to further defections if not properly managed.

MacIver noted that failure to unite could result in the loss of key stakeholders, particularly after state, National Assembly, and governorship primaries.

He stressed that while the APC remains the party to beat in the 2027 elections and its loyalty to President Tinubu is firm, internal divisions must not be allowed to create vulnerabilities that could be exploited by opposition forces.

“Our core interest remains the re-election of Mr. President, a project to which we have committed everything. However, we must look inwards and ensure that we do not create loopholes that can impede our common goal,” he said.

MacIver also congratulated the newly elected APC State Executive Committee in Bayelsa, led by Warman Ogoriba, describing their emergence as timely and significant for the party’s future.
