Ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara Central Senatorial District have called on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to contest for the Senate in the 2027 general elections.

The 52 ward chairmen, under the aegis of the APC Ward Chairmen Forum, made the appeal on Wednesday while addressing journalists in Ilorin. Speaking on behalf of the group, Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Abdullahi Baba Gobir, said the governor’s deep understanding of the people’s needs makes him the ideal candidate to represent the district.

“Our resolve is for the welfare and development of the people of Kwara Central. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq knows us and understands our problems better. That is why we believe he is the right person to represent us as Senator in 2027,” he said.

The ward chairmen described their endorsement as a reflection of the tradition of rewarding effective leadership with greater responsibility, noting that it was driven by a collective desire to sustain purposeful governance at a higher level.

“It reflects the voice of the grassroots, the pulse of the people, and the confidence reposed in a leader who has consistently delivered,” they said.

On the 2027 general elections, the party leaders pledged their commitment to mobilise support for all candidates that emerge through the party’s legitimate processes.

“As ward chairmen and grassroots leaders, we will mobilise across communities to ensure that the APC retains its stronghold in Kwara State and remains the party of choice beyond 2027,” they added.

They also called on party members across the state to remain united and supportive of the governor, stressing the need for consolidation and continued progress.

The ward chairmen further commended the conduct of the party’s ward, local government, and state congresses, describing them as peaceful, transparent, and reflective of the APC’s internal democracy.

They praised Governor AbdulRazaq for providing an enabling environment for the successful conduct of the exercises, noting that his leadership style—anchored on fairness, inclusiveness, and development—continues to inspire confidence among party members and the public.

According to them, the administration’s people-oriented policies and projects, particularly in infrastructure development and youth and women empowerment, have positively impacted communities across the state.
