Some residents of Ogun State yesterday urged the presidential candidates of various political parties to prioritise tackling insecurity, improving electricity supply, and addressing economic hardship if elected president in 2027.
They lamented that insecurity and economic hardship have placed immense pressure on citizens, as many no longer feel safe either inside or outside their homes.
The residents also noted that the poor state of the economy has made it difficult for people to enjoy the quality of life they desire.
They decried the worsening state of insecurity and economic hardship in the country, noting that these challenges have continued to exert tremendous pressure on citizens.
According to them, people no longer feel secure in their homes or while carrying out their daily activities, while the prevailing economic difficulties have significantly reduced their quality of life and purchasing power.
An Engineer, Tajudeen Bamidele said ”
We have seen a lot of politicians emerging as the presidential candidates of APM, PDP, APC but to me I have not seen a tangible party that can beat APC because most of the party coming out are factional and that could affect the candidate of opposition parties to become the president and give to us what APC did not do in the last three and half years.”
“Our leader is are not good to the people of the country, I remember when the administration of Tinubu was coming on board, President Tinubu promised that if he did not resolve the issue of electricity we should not vote him in second term. What I actually expect any presidential candidate that emerge the president in 2027 to solve the issue of insecurity, hunger and bad economy.” he noted.
Another resident, Seun Sekoni, a Computer Analyst, said ” Obviously the country needs a leader that can solve the issue of insecurity, and a leader that is also accountable, it is sad that we have had a lot of promises from previous administration but they did not fulfill any one.
“I actually did not trust any other these politicians, but for Tinubu, Jonathan and others emerging as the presidential candidates of their respective parties I think if anyone of them emerge as the president the issue of insecurity should be their first priority, followed hunger and consistent inflation should be resolved.”he opined
Also, a provisions seller, Monsurat Akindele said “We expected anyone that eventually becomes the next president out of all the candidates of the various political parties to consider the issue of insecurity. It is sad that for the past three weeks that they have kidnapped some school children in Oyo State, the government is yet to rescue them.”
“The second thing is that anyone who emerge as the president is to look at a way to resolve the issue of economic hardship and hunger bedeviling the nation.” she added
