A senior advocate of Nigeria and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Olusola Oke, has dismissed insinuations that President Bola Tinubu and the party will face an uphill battle in the state during the 2027 general elections.

The legal practitioner described the party’s position in the state as unassailable, insisting that Tinubu will record a landslide victory at the polls.

Oke’s position was in response to comments made by an aspirant of the party while featuring on a national television program a few days ago.

The aggrieved aspirant, Razaq Obe, who lost the Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency ticket of the party, had during the interview raised concerns over the handling of the party’s primary election appeals, stating that Tinubu and other APC candidates risk losing in the state.

Obe also alleged interference of the national chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in the party’s candidate nomination process.

However, in a rebuttal, Oke cautioned that such outbursts not only paint the state chapter of the party in a bad light but also undermine the enormous investment made by leaders to secure victory for the president in the forthcoming election.

“The statement credited to Engr. Razaq Obe, one of the (Reps) aspirants of the party, that President Tinubu and APC may not win the 2027 election was in total contrast to the popularity of APC and President Tinubu in Ondo State,” Oke said.

He acknowledged the existence of post-primary disagreemreps’which he described as a normal feature of political contests, but maintained that such internal squabbles have no bearing on the party’s strength or its preparedness for the general election.

“In every contest, especially a primary election, there is always post-primary disagreement, especially between those who contended for the tickets of the party. This has nothing to do with the strength of the party in the state and its preparation for the coming election.

“With the current state of APC in Ondo State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will record a landslide victory in Ondo come the 2027 election.”

He further warned party members to desist from making unguarded statements that could bring the party into disrepute, urging unity and focus as the election cycle approaches.
