The senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe, and President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Alhassan Yahya, are expected to lead other prominent Nigerians to engage in high-level discussions on national development and governance.
The public lecture, being put together by the Pacesetter Frontier Magazine as part of its fifth yearly discourse, would convene prominent figures from government, civil society groups, the private sector, and academia to discuss the theme, “Politics of Convergence and Collisions in Nigeria: Navigating Power Struggle in Shaping Democracy.”
The founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Prof. Udenta O. Udenta, would deliver the keynote speech at the event, while Abaribe and Yahya would Chair and Co-chair, respectively.
Others expected to speak at the event include journalist and Founder of Empowered Newswire, Laolu Akande; activist, Aisha Yesufu; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Protocol, Ademola Oshodi, and Catholic Priest & Social Commentator, Rev. Fr. John Chinenye Oluoma.
In a statement, Head, Southern Bureau of the Magazine, Doris Ewoh, said that the event, billed to hold on November 11, 2025, would try to unravel the manoeuvre for alternatives towards an acceptable democracy for Nigeria.
“Our topic hopes to discuss this politics of convergence and collisions. We want to investigate the evolving journey of shaping Nigeria’s democracy through alternatives. Drawing from and referencing similar historical developments, our topic hopes to carefully connect the dots, weaving a web that will lead to where Nigeria currently is. It will question the sincerity of the promised utopia.
