The wife of the Abia State Governor, Priscilla Otti, has commissioned and handed over 35 “dignity homes” to indigent widows across the 17 local government areas of the state, in a move aimed at improving welfare support for vulnerable residents.
The project, executed through her office, was unveiled during a ceremony held in Umuhute, Ahiake Ndume, Umuahia, which served as the central location for the distribution of the housing units.
The initiative forms part of activities marking Governor Alex Otti’s third year in office and is designed to provide shelter and social support for widows identified as indigent across the state.
According to her, the exercise reflects ongoing efforts to promote inclusive welfare programmes and improve living conditions for disadvantaged groups in Abia State.
