National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralphs Nwosu, has charged the National Assembly to declare Senate President, Bukola Saraki President of the country with immediate effect.

He said happenings, especially President Muhammadu Buharis’s ridiculing of the constitution, indicate that the president can no longer continue to rule the nation.

In a statement issued yesterday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Yemi Kolapo, it noted that all the blunders against the country’s democracy indicated that the President and his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, were no longer in control of governance.

He said the presidency had no right to remove or suspend the head of the judiciary without due process, noting that the President had committed a grave offence against the nation.

He also pointed out that it would be less reckless, at this point, for the legislature to take over power from this government without necessarily going through impeachment procedure.

Also, representative of Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has said the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen was unconstitutional, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) government has now set the stage for a totalitarian and fascist state.

The human rights crusader said it was time for Nigerians to resist any attempt by the Buhari government to continue to perpetuate injustices, violate rule of law and the ethos of democratic governance, which he inherited in 2015.

Sani spoke at the Kaduna State Correspondent of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Award in which he was named recipient at the weekend, saying it was enough for Nigerians to believe that the President’s recent action few days to the general elections was calculated to frustrate the polls.

Besides, Sani also admonished journalists in the state to resist attempt by government to use them as agents to damage the profession and derail democracy by doing government’s bidding.
