Senator Solomon olamilekan Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State and senator representing Ogun West, is set to deliver 60 boreholes across the three senatorial districts of the state to address water supply challenges in underserved communities.

The water projects, facilitated in response to requests from communities, are at various stages of implementation, including site assessment, surveying, drilling, casing, pump installation and testing.

According to a statement by Adeola’s media adviser, Chief
Kayode Odunaro, the projects are expected to be completed within the next 10 days, with contractors already mobilised to the various sites.

Adeola said the initiative was designed to provide potable water to communities in need while complementing the water supply programmes of the Ogun State Government.

“I am happy to announce that in the next few days, some of our people in communities in need of potable water across our senatorial districts will start enjoying the commodity, complimentary to major water works of the administration of our governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun”

The senator explained that the projects were selected based on requests received by his office, with priority given to areas where the need was considered urgent and where the projects would benefit a large number of residents.

He urged the contractors handling the projects to ensure timely completion and delivery according to specifications.
Ogun West is allocated 21 of the 60 boreholes, while Ogun Central and Ogun East will receive 20 and 19 respectively.

Yewa South, Abeokuta North and Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Areas are among the major beneficiaries, receiving seven, five and five boreholes respectively, while other local government areas will benefit from the scheme in varying numbers.

Communities listed among the beneficiaries include Obasanjo Hill Top, Alubarika Bode Olude Opeji, Omida Community, Moriwi Community, Pahayi Police Station in Ilaro, Ijado, Ijako Township and Owode Obafe.

Others are Ogijo Market, Igbore Community in Ikenne, Odo Alere Quarters in Ososa, Ibiade Community and Imakun Community.

Adeola said the boreholes would be powered with generators to ensure operational efficiency and sustainability.

He added that the projects were expected to serve domestic and economic purposes, while contributing to preventive healthcare by improving access to safe water.

The senator has previously facilitated borehole projects in various parts of Ogun State, alongside other interventions including ultra-modern markets, school buildings and primary healthcare centres.
