Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 21-year-old man, Ajekunle Olubode, for allegedly vandalising and stealing electrical cables from a house in the state.

Olubode was arrested at about noon on August 12, 2026, following a distress call from residents of One Accord Community, along Lafenwa-Itele Road, reporting an ongoing theft in the area.

The Commander of the corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta.

Ganzallo said the Divisional Officer in charge of the Itele Divisional Headquarters, SC Ogunkunle Oluwagbemiga, immediately mobilised his team to the community after receiving the distress call.

He said the operatives arrived at the scene and caught the suspect in the act, although some of the cables had already been vandalised and removed.

According to him, preliminary investigation showed that the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime and admitted that it was not his first time engaging in such an activity.

Ganzallo added that Olubode also confessed to having stolen other items, including a pumping machine, before his arrest.

The commander explained that the suspect allegedly operated by identifying houses that had remained unoccupied for several days.

He would then monitor such properties before breaking into them at night to steal valuables.

He said Olubode had reportedly been staying in the house where he was arrested for three days before the incident, adding that the suspect also claimed to have customers who bought the stolen items from him.

Ganzallo said the suspect and the recovered exhibits had been handed over to the Itele Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution.
