Akeredolu promotes 31,086 Ondo workers
The Ondo State Civil Service Commission has said the Rotimi Akeredolu administration has promoted 31,086 from 2017 to 2020
Chairman of the commission, Mr. Afolabi Adewakun, said 7,346 workers were promoted in this year’s promotion exercise.
Adewakun, who stated these at a briefing in Akure, said 130 officers across various cadres in the civil service retired between January and September this year.
He explained 6,644 were promoted in the mainstream civil service while 24,442 were promoted in the boards, parastatal, and agencies of the government under the years reviewed.
The civil service commission boss said the welfare of workers has been at the heart of Akeredolu’s administration.
The chairman stated that disciplinary cases ranging from financial misconduct and dereliction of duty were looked into by the commission while necessary and appropriate sanctions were meted to erring officers.
He noted 1,292 workers in the state’s main civil service were promoted in 2020 coupled with 6,054 workers being promoted in another government parastatal.
“This, the grand total of officers promoted in 2020 is 7,346 across the state public service. All eligible officers have received their letters,” he said.
“There has been prompt payment of workers’ salary and other emoluments and that training and retraining programmes have engendered higher productivity.
“This has led to better service delivery in the civil service. It is noteworthy that the present administration had shown great sensitivity and empathy to all sectors of the state.
“This is evident in Mr. Governor’s recent approval for the employment of 23 physically challenged people into the state civil service among many others into different cadres,” he stated.
He admonished the newly promoted officers to reciprocate the government’s gesture through dedication, more productivity, diligence, and unalloyed loyalty in carrying out their responsibilities.
