Akinola picks APC nomination forms, pledges purposeful representation

Lawyer and tax expert, Olugbuyiro Akindele Akinola,

A House of Representatives aspirant for the Akure North and Akure South Federal Constituency, Ondo State, Olugbuyiro Akindele Akinola, has emphasised the need for a shift from routine representation to a more purposeful and result-driven approach in the National Assembly.

Akinola, who disclosed this after securing both the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC), argued that Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges require lawmakers with strong legal and financial expertise.

With the development, Akinola joined a growing number of aspirants seeking the APC ticket for Akure North and Akure South Federal Constituency.

The aspirant said the procurement of the forms signals a decisive step in his political ambition, transitioning his aspiration into active participation in the party’s nomination process amid ongoing strategic alignments by contenders.

Akinola, a legal practitioner and tax expert, currently serves as a part-time Commissioner at the Tax Appeal Tribunal (TAT) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a role that places him within the country’s fiscal and quasi-judicial framework.

He brings over two decades of experience spanning legal practice, taxation, banking, and media, having worked with firms such as Olaniwun Ajayi LP and George Etomi & Partners before founding Stonewaters Law Office.

Beyond his legal career, Akinola previously worked as a financial correspondent with The Comet and The Nation, and currently serves as editor of the Federal Tax Law Reports, contributing to analysis of Supreme Court decisions on tax matters.

His political experience includes roles within the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alliance for Democracy (AD), and the APC, as well as serving as Deputy National Legal Adviser to a Presidential Independent Campaign Council and Deputy National Legal Director in a presidential campaign structure.

He also served as a Senior Legislative Aide to a lawmaker representing Akure North/South Federal Constituency in 2015, providing him with direct exposure to legislative processes and constituency representation.
