Some All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives and Ondo State House of Assembly aspirants in Akoko North East and Akoko North West Federal Constituency have petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari and Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, over emergence of candidates in the zone.

In petition signed by 13 of the APC members, including Muyiwa Olusa, Tunde Giwa Daramola, Olutayo Cyril Egunlayi, Mohammed Aliu Yahaya, Asiwaju Biodun Ilesanmi, Salau Tijani Mohammed, the aspirants said there were no primary election for House of Representatives and state Assembly in the zone.

They alleged that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu handpicked his anointed candidates across the state, saying since the development, the Ondo APC has been observing a graveyard silence.

They, however, added that they were optimistic that Oshiomhole, who they referred to as a democrat, will ensure that the party provides a level playing field for all aspirants.

While claiming that figures were allotted to the governor’s preferred candidates, the aspirants said: “In the last two weeks, we have been traumatised with conflicting information about the type of primary election that will be adopted in our state.

“Just as the dust about the approval of direct primary by the national secretariat settled down, rumours of imposition of candidates by Akeredolu bathed our political firmament.

“We regret to inform your esteemed self and the general public that no primary election was conducted.”
