Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has continued to excel among his contemporaries through good governance in aviation and other sectors of the state’s economy, says the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Akparawa Edet.

He stated this in the United Kingdom during a lecture on ‘Media Relations and Effective PR Campaign’ handled by a media guru, Diana Young, at the London School of Public Relations.

Edet, who was the leader of the Akwa Ibom team to the institution, said the success of its PR campaign in attracting investors to the state depended on the numerous development projects embarked on by Governor Emmanuel for the people of the state in such sectors as aviation, industrialisation, agriculture, entrepreneurial development and human capacity building.

According to him, while state governments in Nigeria may not necessarily be in competition with one another, as it is applicable in corporate business organisations, one can outshine another through good governance, which is a major index in the effectiveness of their PR campaigns towards wooing investors and tourists to their different domains.

On competition in the global marketplace, Edet emphasised that, while state governments might not be in cruel competition, they could, without prejudices, showcase enduring legacies geared toward the development of their different states for the benefit of the citizenry.

Speaking on the topic, ‘Evolve to compete in the marketplace and reach your target audience’, the permanent secretary said state governments in Nigeria have continued to tailor their programmes in line with their core values, mission and vision, reiterating that the outcomes, as showcased in the execution of their projects, might look competitive, as some outshine others.

He cited Ibomair, which has reportedly catapulted Akwa Ibom above its contemporaries as a good PR campaign project of the state, which received a widespread commendation.

The permsec reiterated the state government’s commitment to the Completion Agenda while pushing on the Dakkada philosophy, which is a clarion call for the citizenry to rise up to the faith of greatness by engaging in meaningful ventures and entrepreneurship.

While listing other sectors in the state with commendable strides such as industrialisation, agriculture, entrepreneurial development and human capacity building, Edet emphasised that it is often not difficult to market a good product, as it markets itself.
