A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Romanus Nwankenke has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian military for the restoration of peace in the southeast region.

“President Buhari has done more for the Igbos than his predecessors. I particularly thank him and the Nigeria Military for their swift response in combating and curbing the nefarious activities of IPOB, ESN, and other groups in the South Eastern Region of the Country and restoring Peace in the troubled region,” he said.

Nwankenke, a member of the governing council of Ebube Agu, in Enugu State, urged IPOB members to surrender their ammunitions and pledge allegiance to the Nigerian government.

The APC chieftain called on all stakeholders, governors, traditional rulers, the Ohaneze, and all South Easterners to cooperate with the Military to neutralize IPOB totally.

He said, “IPOB and other groups agitating for a referendum and break up of Nigeria are nothing but an enemy of Nigeria, and as such must all be wiped out.”

The APC commiserated with Nigeria Army for the demise of the former chief of Army Staff General Ibrahim Attahiru, calling his death a monumental loss not only to the Nigeria Army but to the country at large.

He commended the Enugu State governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, his Imo State counterpart Hope Uzodinma, Buhari, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representative Femi Gbajabiamila, Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba, National leader of the APC Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their role in supporting the government.
