Atiku felicitates with Oba Ewuare 11 on coronation
Former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Oba Ewuare 11 on his coronation.
In a statement yesterday by his Media Office in Abuja, Atiku said the choice and acceptability of Oba Ewuare 11 to ascend the throne of the ancient Benin Kingdom venerates the defining deep wisdom, courage and resourcefulness the Bini throne is widely acknowledged for.
“The new monarch was born into royalty and was properly groomed to be an Oba. That is a big advantage that he has, because he knows everything about Bini culture, tradition and the challenges,” Atiku said.
The Turaki Adamawa noted that it is remarkable that contrary to the belief that the new Oba, who is well travelled and educated, might shelve some of the rituals preparatory to his ascension to the throne, he chose to fulfill all of them, as done by his forefathers.
Atiku urged the new Oba to dedicate himself to building on and surpassing the worthy legacies of his much-acclaimed predecessor and father by committing himself to carrying his subjects along to a new era of peace, stability and progress in his kingdom, Edo State and Nigeria as a whole.
Describing Oba Ewuare 11 as a man who abhors lies and upholds truth, the former Vice President urged him to work with the government and other traditional rulers and institutions to foster harmony and socio-economic development across the country, while wishing him long life and successful reign in the service of his people and the country.
