Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, yesterday, met with President Muhammadu Buhari over the national honours’ list, which has been dogged by controversy in the last few days, assuring, however, that the authentic list will soon be released.
Specifically, a list purported to have emanated from the ministry has been trending with critics asking why some names were omitted whereas those considered not worthy of the awards were captured as beneficiaries. Akume was thought to have been summoned to the Presidential Villa over the matter.
However, speaking to newsmen on his way out of the President’s office, he said the meeting was not in connection with the list. The former Benue State governor said the ministry did not release the one that had been in circulation.
