The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed a response team to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following recent bandit attacks on Woro and Nuku communities.
Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, directed the team from the agency’s Minna Operations Office to temporarily relocate to the affected areas to conduct a thorough assessment of the situation and the needs of the impacted communities.
In a statement by the national spokesman of the agency, Ezekiel Manzo, the DG said the intervention team is expected to work with the state emergency agency and other authorised agencies to carry out its task.
“I have instructed our team to work closely with local authorities and security agencies to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated response,” Umar stated.
The assessment is being conducted in collaboration with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and relevant security agencies.
In addition to the assessment, NEMA has arranged for relief items, including food and non-food materials, which are already being distributed to support victims in the affected communities.
Umar expressed her heartfelt sympathies to the affected communities and the Kwara State Government, assuring them of the agency’s full support during this challenging time.
She said that at NEMA, “We are committed to providing necessary assistance to help these communities recover from this unfortunate incident.”
