Unidentified persons, yesterday, abducted a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Godfrey Mark Chimezie of St. Theresa’s Parish Umuahia, along the Enyiukwu road in Ohokobe Afaraukwu Community, Umuahia North Council of Abia State.

An eyewitness said the incident occurred after the victim finished conducting the morning mass at St. Gabriel Okpuruie Afaraukwu and was forced out of his Toyota Corolla car into his abductors’ Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) before being whisked away.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, said the command was yet to be briefed on the development.

But some clerics, who were also reached, confirmed the event and prayed that their abducted colleague should be released unconditionally and unhurt.
