Be proactive in terrorism war, Zulum tells military
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has urged the Nigerian army to be proactive by taking the counter-terrorism war to Boko Haram hideouts of Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region.
While declaring open the Chief of Army Staff Combined four-day Conference at Command Guest House, Maiduguri, Zulum urged the army not to wait until terrorists attacked them and civilians in the North East before they act.
According to him, taking the war to the hideouts will expose the terrorists, their collaborators and sponsors in forests and region.
“The road to attainment of peace is by no means an easy task; it’s rough, bumpy and full of unexpected challenges.
“We have no choice but to face them squarely. As we must not allow temporary setback, we should remain steadfast in our collective efforts to free our nation from the dreaded Boko Haram,” he said.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, in his opening remarks, charged field commanders not to relent, but to sustain the tempo of operations and to decimate inimical forces.
