Yahaya Bello
Piqued by allegations of high-handedness and inability to abide by the terms of reference for screening workers, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has axed the chairman of Civil Servants Screening Committee, General Paul Okutimo(rtd).
Organised labour had earlier passed a vote of no confidence on the embattled chairman and urged the governor for sack him and withdraw the preliminary list leaked to the public.
Bello, who held a meeting with the Organised Labour at the Government House on Friday evening, told them that the recent preliminary report released by the former military officer was not approved by him, even as he sympathized with those affected by the purported list, which has caused discomfort for many families in the state.
The governor said the screening was not meant to witch-hunt any body, but to sanitise the entire system and charged the new chairman, Dr. Jerry Agbaje, to live up to expectations and ensure the exercise is completed within two weeks.
