CNG wants Customs border drill in Katsina suspended
‘Inter-platoon contests hone youth’s skills’
Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has called for immediate suspension of border drills by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Katsina State.
The North West Coordinator of CNG, Jamilu Charanchi, while addressing newsmen in Katsina, yesterday, also called for the compensation of families of deceased victims as well as those injured in Monday’s incident in Jibia Local Council, which led to the loss of 10 lives.
In a letter addressed to the Comptroller General, NCS, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd.), Charanchi called for urgent investigation into the matter to avert recurrence.
IN a related development, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC,) Coordinator Gombe State, Mrs. Ada Imoni, has affirmed that inter-platoon drills incite mental alertness in the youth.
She said competitions also sharpen their communication skills.
Speaking at the NYSC 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream One inter-platoon competition at the NYSC temporary orientation camp, Amada, the commandant insisted that the exercise “must be held to guarantee endurance as well as teach the corps members how to ignore temptation to move or adjust to situations.”
