Sixth President of the Committee of Friends for Humanity (COFFHA), and foremost public relations practitioner, Mrs. Nkechi Ali-Balogun, has praised her predecessors for laying a very solid foundation, with monumental achievements, just as she has promised to raise the bar with her team.

Nkechi Ali-Balogun

Ali-Balogun, in her welcome address at her inauguration, said: “I am proud to be a Coffhite. I am most honoured and humbled to be elected president of the association, and with the help and support of my executive council, and fellow women of worth as we are called, I will do my best to meet the challenge.

“COFFHA has been built on a strong leadership foundation, and I am fortunate to have a membership that is fully committed to the ideals of COFFHA; women that are passionate enough to go the extra mile in sustaining the association, and carrying out the many worthwhile projects that we undertake for the benefits of humanity.”

She listed several interventions by the club including the renovation and furnishing of a 16-bed female ward at Apapa Health Centre, the donation of a 20Kva power generating set, as well as the donation of a kidney dialysis machine to the Gbagada General Hospital.

The outgone President, Carolyn Akum Ufere, thanked all those who made her administration a success.

“I could not have done it without you. I urge you to give the same maximum support and cooperation to the new president and her executives.”

The Co-Chairman of the event, Mrs. Godrey Ogbechie, counted it a privilege and honour, to co-chair Alli- Balogun investiture alongside Dr. Dakuku Peterside.

“When Mrs. Ali-Balogun had a conversation with me about co-chairing the event, all I needed to know was how the activities of the organisation benefit others, especially women and children. When she did and I understood what the COFFHA stands for, I jumped right in. As you can imagine, that didn’t take a lot of talking to arrive at the decision.

“I am motivated by people who do what they can, small or big to lift others. I say small or big because helping others, and making life better or easy for other people do not have to come in truckloads. It does not have to be attention-grabbing, headline-making, and with applause.

If you are already at that level, great! It is a great opportunity, use it well.

“However, like most things in life we can start from where we are, with the little that we have, and grow from there. We can start from lifting one person and grow to lift multitudes.”

Members of the executive council include Vice President, Dame Ngozi Obikili; Prof. Chinyere Ezeako; Lady Chizor Malize; Lady Christy Onwuzulike; Lady Gloria Okeke; Ogbuefi Prisca Nwadialo, and lady Ijeoma Otti-Onyeri.

New patrons of the club are, Mrs. Godrey Ogbechie; Senator Uche Ekwunife; Dr Lola Akande; Mrs. Vivienne Emma-Nwakamma, and Chinwe Florence Ezenwa.
