The Benue State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, says the command has arrested residents who sold out information leading to the recent attack on a patrol team at Ayilanmo in Logo council area of Benue State. The incident led to the death of three officers with one still missing.

Owoseni, who spoke while parading the suspects yesterday at the command headquarters in Makurdi, said a recent operation led to the recovery of an AK 47 riffle from a deceased attacker, just as another was arrested.

He said during a preliminary investigation, it was discovered that residents of the community provided the information that led to the successful ambush of the police team that was on a routine patrol of the council area.

He regretted that the attack held despite the recent deployment of two formations of the police in the area to restore peace and orderliness.Warning that no one should stand in the way of the force in securing lives and property, Owoseni vowed that the command was poised to deploy lawful means in ensuring the return of peace and resettlement of displaced residents of the state.

He warned that the police would never be cowed, urging the cooperation of everyone and provision of credible information to overcome the security challenges besetting the state.
