Hammed Ibrahim Ali (rtd), noted that the result was consequent upon the ‘dogged pursuit’ of the agency’s reform programmes.

According to a statement by the Head of Public Relations, Deputy Comptroller Joseph Attah, some of the reforms include strategic deployment of manpower; upgrade of the electronic systems from Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System (NICIS I) to NICIS II, leading to tightening of loopholes; strict enforcement of extant laws on tariffs and trade; deep stakeholders’ engagements on compliance as well as the reorientation of officers and men of the service.

It also noted that the implementation of presidential mandate of Restructure, Reform and Raise revenue had made the parastatal play a crucial contributor to national economy and security.
