DEATH toll of miners at the Kampani Zurak Community of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State has risen from 37 to 47.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, following a carbon monoxide leak at the mining site where miners lost their lives, with more than 20 people missing.
An eyewitness, who gave his name as Mallam Suleiman Mafuyayi, said the bodies of 10 of those missing were found dead on Wednesday night.
According to Mafuyayi, it took the combined efforts of the vigilante group and the hunters in the area to find them.
The eyewitness, a cattle rearer, added that mining activities were not unusual in the community since the establishment of Solid Unity Nigeria Limited, a mining firm.
The incident, according to him, is unparalleled since the establishment of the mining company many years ago, as young miners were encouraged by customers from all over the country who came to buy Zinc and lead.
