Delta government, host oil communities hold town hall meeting
All oil and gas producing areas in Delta State, working on the platform of Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSTCOM), have enjoined the people to vote for competent and result-oriented candidates.
They also urged the people to shun thuggery and all other forms of violence and election malpractices at tomorrow’s gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections.
They spoke at a well-attended mega town hall meeting organised by HOSTCOM in Oleh, Isoko South local government area. The event was for the mobilization and sensitisation of indigenes of oil and gas communities to ensure that their permanent voter’s card (PVCs) is ready for Saturday’s election.
It was attended by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as well as representatives of oil producing communities in Ijaw, Isoko, Ndokwa, Ika, Urhobo, Itsekiri and Isoko ethnic nationalities.Delta State HOSTCOM Chairman, Evangelist Gabriel Isibeluo, said: “We will vote for someone who has track records of performance.”He lauded the governor for his projects and programmes.
Okowa commended Esibelu, and HOSTCOM, noting that the enduring peace and cooperation from oil producing communities sustained their development. He stressed that for the past three years of his administration, all the achievements were made possible through the peaceful atmosphere from the communities.He maintained that most of projects he commissioned in the state were through DESOPADEC which have direct impact on the people’s lives.
