Diri vows to depose monarchs, whose subjects use guns to intimidate voters
Bayelsa State Governor,, has vowed to depose any traditional ruler in the state, who allows politicians in his domain to use guns to intimidate voters.
Speaking during the flag-off of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign in Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, yesterday, in Yenagoa, the governor also warned that any community where intimidation and rigging occur, youth leaders of such community will also be sanctioned.
He urged the people of the state to support all PDP candidates to enable the party correct the economic woes allegedly perpetrated in the country by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
He assured the people that the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has what it takes to reposition the country.
“As for traditional rulers, I have told them, any traditional ruler in whose domain any politician uses gun to drive away any other party, such traditional ruler will be deposed. I am now advising, after now, I will take action through my deputy governor.
“The youths in such a place will be de-recognised and I mean every word that comes out of my mouth. Traditional rulers will remain apolitical, youths have to be disciplined, politics is not to go and kill your brother.
“I urged the people of Bayelsa State to continue to have the undying spirit of the PDP and we will continue to make sure we bring development, infrastructure, human capital development to Bayelsa State,” he said.
PDP state Chairman, Solomon Agwanana, said the strength of the PDP is in the hand of every resident, who supports achievements of the prosperity government of Senator Douye Diri.
He said: “We don’t want all this political gamblers to come and gamble with our state. We have situation in this country, the situation is not healthy, the economy is not healthy, the security is not healthy. They are trying to gamble with our state but God will not allow them.”
