A Professor of Leadership, Christian Harrison, has underscored the need of promoting inclusive leadership and expanding opportunities for women and underrepresented groups.
According to him, such promotion is not optional but a responsibility.
He stated this at the SheInspires Awards where he was nominated for the Male Ally of the Year Award, in recognition of his contributions to advancing gender equality, equity and inclusion.
“Championing inclusive leadership and creating opportunities for others to thrive has never been just an aspiration for me; it is a responsibility,” Harrison said.
Harrison, who is affiliated with the Centre for Leadership and Empowerment and the University of Greater Manchester, described the nomination as a significant honour, noting that the values being celebrated have remained central to his professional work and personal mission.
“This recognition celebrates individuals who are committed to advancing gender equality, equity, and inclusion; values that have been central to my work and purpose throughout my career,” he said.
According to him, his efforts have focused on mentoring, advocacy and influencing institutional practices to create environments where diverse groups can thrive.
He expressed gratitude for the nomination, acknowledging the role of colleagues and collaborators in his journey.
“I am immensely grateful for this recognition and for those who took the time to nominate me. I also want to acknowledge the many inspiring individuals I have had the privilege to work with and learn from along the way; this journey has always been a collective one.
I remain committed to supporting environments where everyone, particularly women and underrepresented groups, can succeed and lead,” the leadership scholar stated.
Harrison, who is also associated with the British Academy of Management, commended Gulnaz Brennan and the SheInspires team for their efforts in celebrating women’s achievements globally.
He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing inclusive leadership and supporting gender equity initiatives, expressing optimism about future engagements ahead of the awards scheduled for November.
