The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Lucky Irabor, has charged members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to rise above the grief of the death of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-General Ibrahim Attahiru, and 10 other officers and focus on their constitutional roles.

He enjoined them to maintain the high spirit and not allow the trying moment to dampen their morale.

Speaking at the home of the late COAS during the three-day Moslem funeral prayer, Irabor said: “My message to members of AFN is that they should remain steadfast and committed to their constitutional roles in this trying period. Their spirit should not be dampened by the unfortunate incident.”

The Director, Islamic Affairs, Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen. Shehu Mustapha, who led the prayers, sought God’s intervention to end insecurity in the country.

He also prayed to God to grant Nigerian leaders the wisdom and strength to pilot the affairs of the nation.

At the prayer was former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau (rtd.); Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mohammed Marwa; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao; Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Ali Ndume; former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, and other dignitaries.
