The member representing Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo (Ohanivo) Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Kama Nkemkanma, during the weekend, pleaded with traditional rulers not to allow our cultural heritage to die.
Kama made the plead during the second edition of “Ohanivo Unity Carnival” event held at Central School Egunkwo Onicha Igbeze in Onicha local government area of Ebonyi State, reminding the people about the richness of our heritage and the importance of preserving it for future generations adding that we are proud to provide a platform for our youths to showcase their skills, confidence, and charisma.
He said the carnival would showcase the rich cultural heritage of his constituents, stressing that the theme was anchored on “Celebrating our heritage, building our future together,” reflecting their unwavering belief in the power of community and their determination to lay a solid foundation for generations to come.
The lawmaker recalled that he launched the maiden edition of the carnival, with a vision born out of his constituents’ collective desire to strengthen the bonds that tie them together, celebrate their rich heritage, and create a platform for fostering collaboration and understanding among themselves.

He expressed joy over the overwhelming turnout and successes recorded during the inaugural event, saying it proved that “the Ohanivo Constituency is not just a collection of communities and villages but a family united by shared values and aspirations.”
He expressed optimism that this year’s carnival would bring a greater commitment to unity, peace, and progress among the Ohanivo people.
The Labour Party legislator commended the state Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, on ‘his exemplary leadership, continual support and for providing fair and peaceful environment’ for the National
Assembly lawmakers from Ebonyi State to operate and provide impactful representation to their constituents without unhealthy interference since assumed office.

According to Him “Ohanivo Unity Carnival is more than a celebration; it is a movement,” calling all and sundry to embrace their diversity as a strength and to work collectively for the advancement of their various communities in the constituency and beyond.

The Chairman of Ohanivo Traditional Rulers Forum, Eze Godwin Akpandu, and Chairman of Traditional Rulers Council, Onicha local government area, Eze Josephat Ikegwo, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for organising the event and his effective representation in the National Assembly and therefore, declared their unwavering support for his second term in the office.
