Operatives of the Department of State Services have reportedly taken former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, into custody shortly after a court granted him bail.
The development reportedly occurred following court proceedings linked to allegations bordering on national security and financial-related offences.
According to reports, the court approved bail for El-Rufai with specific conditions, including directives related to his movement and continued cooperation with investigators. However, shortly after the ruling, DSS operatives were said to have escorted the former governor away from the court premises.
The incident has generated widespread reactions across political and legal circles, with supporters and critics expressing differing views over the latest twist in the case.
As of the time of filing this report, the DSS has not officially released a detailed statement regarding the reason for the latest detention. Legal proceedings in the matter are expected to continue in the coming days.
