EFCC quizzes Sokoto NULGE president, others over alleged fraud

The Sokoto Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced investigation of alleged fraud in the Sokoto State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).

President of NULGE, Shehu Halliru Dange and Director Monitoring and Inspection, Ministry of Local Government and Community Development, Abubakar Muhammad Dogondaji, have been quizzed for their alleged roles in some questionable disbursements from the union’s account.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Dange withdrew N45.7m as impress, security, special prayers and other allowances, while he and the Secretary also withdrew N7.5m cash monthly and handed it over to Dogondaji, amounting to N53.2m.

When confronted with the evidence, Dogondadi could not give satisfactory explanation on the monies he has been collecting from the Sokoto NULGE Secretariat. However, EFCC confirmed that investigation on the matter continues.
