Non-Governmental Organisation, Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF), yesterday, advocated “climate justice” towards preserving and protecting earth to achieve sustainable environment for humanity.

Executive Director, Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF), Nnimmo Bassey, made the call in Benin City during an event organised by HOMEF to commemorate the 2022 World Earth Day celebration with the theme, “Invest in the Planet”.

Bassey, who emphasised the need to safeguard the rights of the planet, said Earth Day celebration was a day set aside to focus on mobilising action to protect the planet.

He expressed concerns over the patterns of climate change globally and other factors, including illegal mining activities, as devastating and inimical to preserving the earth.

Bassey said the campaign for eco-friendly solutions was key to preserving and protecting planet Earth. He identified climate change as a call to action and called on government at all levels and relevant stakeholders to rise up to the occasion to protect the planet saying: “ If we continue to live as though what we do doesn’t matter, we will be digging our graves.”
