Female lawyer alleges threat to her life, petitions police
The lawyer at a press briefing in GRA, Ikeja, said her predicament started when she refused to step down for the politician who is vying for the same position with her in another party.
She said: “I am a lawyer but I delved into politics to represent my people in Surulere Federal constituency. I was in the same political party with the man who is planning to eliminate me. I was given a House of Assembly ticket in our former party, but my mandate was stolen and given to another person. I did not want trouble, so I decided to leave the party and picked a form from another party.
“He has been trailing me all over the places I visit. Anywhere I go for consultation or campaign, he and his campaign director would be trailing me. They use unregistered cars to trail my supporters. He has empowered his boys who have vowed to kill me and wipe out my family,” she said.
Meanwhile, an Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate for Surulere Federal Constituency 2, Seyi Clement, has said there’s an alleged plot by the party in power and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove his name from the INEC list of candidates billed to contest the rescheduled House of Representatives election on Saturday.
Clement stated that he had duly consulted his party leadership when he indicated interest to contest for the seat and he was given the nod, screened and cleared for the primaries.
He added that his name was published by INEC as a candidate to fly the party’s ticket, but to his consternation, he discovered that a plot has been hatched by the party in power and its leadership in connivance with INEC to remove his name from the list, so it could give a free win for the All Progressives Party (APC).
