FG begins 2019 wet season control of migratory pests in Kebbi

The Federal Government has flagged off the 2019 Wet Season control of migratory pests, specifically the Quale’s birds control operation in Kebbi State.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Mohammed Bello Tambuwa while flagging off the ceremony said the exercise is to curb the menace of migratory pests and ensure the protection and safety of farms.

He added that the 12 frontline states involved are Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Borno, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano and Jigawa.

He said: “The destructive effects of these pests, especially on cereal crops with attendant food security and socioeconomic consequences made the Federal Government to carry out targeted aerial and ground control operations against these pests.”
