The Adamawa state Executive Council has approved projects and budgetary provisions worth over N36.8 billion aimed at boosting infrastructure development, strengthening government operations, and improving the welfare of residents across the state.
The approvals were made during the 9th Executive Council meeting of 2026, chaired by governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Leader Leneke, said the council approved the remodelling and renovation of the Adamawa State Governor’s Lodge in Kaduna at a cost of more than N154 million.
Leneke also disclosed that the council approved amendments to the 2026 revised budget estimates, providing additional funding from the contingency reserve for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). He said the adjustment is valued at over N36 billion and is intended to support critical government operations and development programmes.
In a move aimed at improving administrative efficiency, the commissioner revealed that governor Fintiri directed the Commissioner for Special Duties to oversee the Ministry of Livestock. The council also approved the transfer of the Ministry of Energy to the Ministry of Works, restoring the Ministry of Works and Energy Development.
According to Leneke, the governor further directed all ministries to submit reports on ongoing projects through the Office of the Chief of Staff before next week to enhance monitoring, evaluation, and implementation.
The council also approved a contract worth more than N742 million for the construction of a pedestrian bridge across Galadima Aminu Way, popularly known as Bank Road, in Yola.
Speaking on the project, the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Suleiman Muhammad, said the bridge is expected to be completed within three months.
He explained that the project is designed to improve pedestrian safety, reduce accidents, and enhance security along the busy corridor.
The approvals, according to government officials, reflect the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, efficient public service delivery, and the execution of projects aimed at improving the quality of life of residents across Adamawa State.
