Enterprise, Growth and Opportunities (EGO) Foundation has kicked off a skill programme for youths in underserved communities to deepen technology in Ajeromi Council of Lagos State

The Ghetto Tech Star Programme attracted over 150 persons from Ajegunle and its environs, where they are to be provided with economic opportunities during the four-week intensive boot camp.

The participants are to acquire technological skills in the project modelled as a train-the-trainer programme, where the partakers would go ahead to train others within and outside the community, expected to reach 5000 people in the first quarter of this year, with Ajegunle being the first host community. Other underserved communities are also to be activated within the period.

The Executive Director, Toluwase Olaniyan, said the goal of the foundation was to ensure the selected 50 youngsters scale through the boot camp and come out as fellows, adding that the fellows would be trainers hired to groom other young people within the community and selected secondary schools.

“Democratising technology skills is extremely important to sustaining our human capital development in Africa and making technology skills available to young people living in underserved communities would in no little way increase their living standards, as they earn from these technology skills. Improved living and economic condition is what we stand for at EGO Foundation,” he stated.
