Four-year-old boy kidnapped in Delta

A four-year-old boy, Master Sunday Onwusa, was at the weekend kidnapped at the small town of Olieogo in Ndokwa West Local Council of Delta State.

According to a source who would not want his name in print, the suspected kidnapper, a 28-year-old woman (name withheld) who hails from Obi-Obeti, a neighboring town in Ukwuani Local Council, had visited Olieogo the previous day to visit his boyfriend, who was said to have travelled out of town.

The source said the suspected female kidnaper slept at the residence of her boyfriend’s elder brother at Olieogo since she did not meet him at home.

He added that the suspect visited a family with four children residing at Ogbe Etu quarters, Olieogo, whose parents were not at home and sent the eldest child of the family simply known as Blessing, aged 12 to buy a loaf of bread for her and on her return, Blessing could neither find her younger brother nor the suspected kidnapper.

“Blessing immediately raised the alarm, which attracted neighbours and a search party was constituted to hunt for both the missing child and the suspected female kidnapper in all parts of the town but there is still no trace or sign of their presence in any part of the town.

“The matter was reported to the vigilance group who during their course of investigation traced the Okada rider who conveyed her to her hometown in Obi-Obeti and arrested the woman (name withheld) whom the alleged female kidnapper visited before she travelled out of the state. The matter has been reported to the police at Kwale, headquarters of Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State,” the source said.

When The Guardian visited Kwale police station, a senior police officer, who preferred anonymity, said the matter has been transferred to the state police headquarters, Asaba for further investigation.

The Delta State police spokesman, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, disclosed that the matter has been transferred to Human Rights Department of the state police command, adding that police were carrying out further investigation and have spread out its dragnet with the aim of apprehending the suspected female kidnapper.

In Lagos State, an angry mob yesterday descended on a suspected female kidnapper, beat the hell out of her after she was allegedly caught trying to steal a baby. She was stripped naked and made to walk around before being rescued by the police.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was reportedly caught trying to snatch a baby in Okokomaiko area of Lagos around 3:00p.m.
