Fubara attends Port Harcourt church service after UK trip

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, made a public appearance in Port Harcourt on Sunday, attending a Thanksgiving Service organised by the Boys Brigade Metropolitan Battalion Council Nigeria.

The event, which marked Fubara’s first outing since returning from a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom, was held at St. Cyprian’s Church, Anglican Communion. The service was presided over by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Oko-Jaja.

According to a statement from Fubara’s media aide, Nelson Chukwudi, the Thanksgiving Service was organised to celebrate the successful completion of the Boys Brigade’s religious camp activities in the state.

A special prayer was offered for Fubara, his family, and for peace in Rivers State during the service.

Fubara was accompanied by Amaopusenibo Fubara Hart and Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja.

His return to Port Harcourt on Saturday came amid renewed tensions between him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. Wike has accused the suspended governor of orchestrating the disruption of an empowerment programme for women, organised by the Office of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in Port Harcourt.

The latest development raises questions about the status of reconciliation efforts between the former allies.
