Group urges government to commit more funds to family planning
The Association For the Advancement of Family Planning (AAFP) has implored federal and state governments to commit additional resources to family planning across the country.
The group, which made the call in a communiqué issued at the 5th Nigeria Family Planning biennial Conference, urged government to respond to the growing unmet needs for family planning.
The group observed the lukewarm attitude of some state governments towards family planning stating, “there are inadequate investments in family planning by government at all levels.”
Investing in family planning, the group argued, is smart, cost-effective and life-saving, aside being critical in a country like Nigeria with young and rapidly growing population.
